My 60day/60K Fail

Okay.... first I'd like to apologize for my lack of posts.  I've had AP US History homework every night and exams.

Second I like to say I failed with 60day/60k.  I'm at 1,212 words.  I think it had something to do with the fact that it didn't have an actual site like NaNoWriMo.  I probably won't be able to participate in Script Frenzy either because I have the AP Test in May.  Of course, I'll participate in Camp NaNoWriMo and I hope to have some writing up soon.

Preview for a New Story

60days/60k Total Word Count: 1212
Oh, you got to love Exams.... at least they're over tomorrow....

But, anyway, that's not what I wanted to talk about... I have an awesome idea for a new story.  I'm hoping to work more on the outline today and write tomorrow afternoon, Friday and the weekend.  First person to comment with the correct answer on what it's about will win either a free eBook when it's finished, or a special preview of the first chapter before anyone else....  (And yes Helen, you can guess.)

Colors
Pink
Pink is the color of universal love. Pink is a quiet color. Lovers of beauty favor pink. A pink carnation means "I will never forget you".  Pink is a combination of red and white. The quality of energy in pink is determined by how much red is present. White is the potential for fullness, while red helps you to achieve that potential. Pink combines these energies. Shades of deep pink, such as magenta, are effective in neutralizing disorder and violence. Some prisons use limited deep pink tones to diffuse aggressive behavior.  Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, self-worth and love, acceptance.

Blue
Blue gives a feeling of distance. Artists use it to show perspective. This is a good way to understand the energy of the color blue - it allows us to look beyond and increase our perspective outward. It contains a cool vibration that is helpful to communication.
The vibration if blue can be used to open energy flow where it is blocked. Using blue to relax will encourage feelings of communication and peace.

Green
Green is the color of nature, fertility, life. Grass green is the most restful color. Green symbolizes self-respect and well-being. Green is the color of balance. It also means learning, growth and harmony. Green is a safe color, if you don't know what color to use anywhere use green.
Green is favored by well-balanced people. Green symbolizes the master healer and the life force. It often symbolizes money. It was believed green was healing for the eyes. Egyptians wore green eyeliner. Green eyeshades are still used. You should eat raw green foods for good health. Friday is the day of green. Green jade is a sacred stone of Asia.
Green contains the powerful energies of nature, growth, and desire to expand or increase. Balance and a sense of order are found in the color green. Change and transformation is necessary for growth, and so this ability to sustain changes is also a part of the energy of green.

Yellow
Yellow symbolizes wisdom. Yellow means joy and happiness. People of high intellect favor yellow. Yellow daffodils are a symbol of unrequited love. Sunday's color is yellow-gold.
Like the energy of a bright sunny day, yellow brings clarity and awareness. The shade of yellow determines its effect: Yellow-green can mean deceit, and creates a disoriented feeling. Orange-yellow imparts a sense of establishment. Clean light yellow clears the mind, making it active and alert.

Orange
Orange is a power color. It is one of the healing colors. It is said to increase the craving for food. It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. Lady luck's color is orange. I have been told that if a change of any kind is need in life, just burn an orange candle for 7 nights.
While red is associated with fiery heat, orange is associated with the benign warmth of the sun. A dynamic color to be sure, orange offers a more thoughtful control than explosive red. Curiosity is a driving characteristic of orange, and with it comes exploration of new things.

Purple
Purple is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good color to use in meditation.
Purple has been used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty. Being the combination of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colors, purple is believed to be the ideal color. Most children love the color purple. Purple is the color most favored by artists. Thursday's color is purple.
Violet is a combination of blue and red. Red is a focusing, dynamic and active energy while blue is cooling, calming and expansive. Violet brings a new dynamic to the expansion of blue and the activity of red. Red brings practicality to the undirected expansiveness of the blue, and allows more creative energy to emerge. For this reason, violet is associated with imagination and inspiration.

Days 5, 6 & 7: The Days of Planning and Writer's Block

Day 5 Total: 0
Day 6 Total: 0
Day 7 Total: 0
Total Word Count: 306

I feel like I'm not doing my job.  Having only wrote 306 words, I feel so far behind.  I know I can make up the 6,000 some words easily; I just don't know why I'm not writing.  On Day 5, my homework was short, I was going to write and I never did.  On Day 6, I really had no excuse.  Then Day 7, I did some planning, but I never did write.  So, to make it up to everyone, I'm going to be writing today, a lot.  I'm hoping to get the first chapter of my Harry Potter FanFiction done.  Of course, it won't be edited yet, but it'll at least add to my word count quite a bit.
If you want to have a word war today, I'll be more than happy to do so.  I might not be on in a few hours, but I'll be more than happy to do a word war.  If you don't know what a word war is, it's when you set an amount of time and then you check to see who had the most words after the time has passed.  They're what got me through my 50K for my NaNo.  I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I.
I've actually found another way you can accumulate a large word count.  There's this thing called Write or Die.  You set an amount of time, a word count, a grace period, and a consequence mode.  If you set the consequence on Kamikaze, it will eat your words, so my suggestion, keep writing.  I usually set mine on a Strict Grace Period, with Kamikaze as the consequence.  Then, I'll put it on for about ten minutes.  It's actually a great tool to use when you're in the middle of a word war.
If you want any more writing tips, visit my friend Helen's blog: flipflyfall.blogspot.com.  She has really nice tips on titles.  I hope you'll check it out.  As for now, I'm going to write, I hope to see you in the writing world.

Days 3 & 4: Words and Studying

Day 3 Word Count: 110 Words
Day 4 Word Count: 0 Words
Total Word Count: 306 Words

Well, on Day 3, I was back in school for the first time in 13 days, and I had to face reality.  School was back in session after its break and that meant homework, studying, tests and a chance to catch up with all my friends.  I did somehow manage to finish a poem I had started a few months back in first hour Geometry as you can see by an earlier post entitled American Soldier. (If you hate emotional back stories, skip the next paragraph).

There's actually a back story behind that poem.  It's not true, but it's something that I project will happen in the future to me or someone I know.  You see, I was upset because I saw someone I know very well, that I'm pretty good friends with walk up to the army stand in my cafeteria and I was nearly crying.  But, yeah, you probably don't care, but I do.  You see, right now nearly everyone drafted into the army is sent overseas to fight one of the wars (now only one I believe) that the government had no business in starting in my opinion, but I'm not going to rant on politics... so.... I'll move on to Day 4...

On Day 4, my AP US History teacher informed us we'd be having a test Thursday (today).  With just coming back from break, I needed a bit more studying time than usual.  I spent nearly six hours studying non-stop.  Needless to say, I didn't even go on my computer yesterday, except to read over some lecture notes.  Other than that though, I really didn't have time.

To get that word count up, I'm going to need to get around to writing, so I'm bringing this post to a close.  I hope you're all having a lovely day.

American Soldier

American Soldier Tribute

You stand there,
A big grin on your face.
But, I can't be fooled,
I know deep down inside you're terrified.
The flag is raised,
And you're leaving me,
To be an American Soldier.
Fighting that war.
Fighting for what god is for.
Fighting for freedom.
Honey, I love you,
You have no idea what you're putting me through.
I cry every night,
Praying you're okay,
Knowing you very well could never come home.
You're an American Soldier.
Honey, I love you more than you think,
My heart will break if I receive that yellow letter.
But, you're an American Soldier,
Fighting for what God's for,
Keeping this country safe,
So I can sleep tonight.
Fighting to keep our freedom,
Decked out in red, white, and blue,
You're everything I could want and more.
You're an American Soldier,
Fighting that war,
Fighting for what God's for.
Fighting for Freedom.
Honey, can you promise me one thing?
If that yellow letter appears at my door,
Make sure we win.
You're an American Soldier,
Fighting that war,
Fighting for what God is for,
Fighting for our freedom.
Yeah, honey,
You're an American Soldier,
American Soldier.

Day 2: We're Getting There

Well, my word count may not have soared like I had hoped, but I have been putting my schoolwork first, and leaving my homework until the last day of vacation may have not been my best idea.  Even so, I managed a total of 187 words, 1,813 words behind the pace.  Of course, if you're reading this, you're more than likely thinking I'm hopeless, but that is no the case.  During NaNoWriMo, I caught up on my weekends, sometimes writing nearly 10,000 words a day.  And with all the extra credit I did, I've managed over a 200% in the class, but there's really only two assignments in the grade book, so that will change.
I'll be dedicating this weekend to one day of writing and one day of studying.  I have exams in three weeks, but there's really only one I'm worried about.  I'll be studying more than likely Sunday and writing on Saturday.  Maybe we could have a word war?
I also just installed Word 2010, a vast improvement from 2000.  I should be writing a bit more just because of this.
I suppose that's all for now, I'll see you tomorrow with my next daily update.

Day 1: A Day of Writer's Block and Festivities

As You probably guessed from the title, my world count for Day 1 of the 60days/60K Challenge was not good. It was New Year's though, you'll have to give me that.  Even so, with a word count of 0, it was pitiful.
With a word count so low, that puts me 1000 words behind.  Currently, I'm working on my new Harry Potter FanFicton featuring Neville and an outside character named Ella Anderson.  It's going to be seven chapters with an epilogue, so I hope you're looking forward to that. (:
In other news, I counted how many stories I currently have in progress (some haven't been touched for over a year) and another five ideas wandering around.  I'm hoping the 60days/60/K Challenge will help me finish a few of them, and possibly start another.
Anyway, I think I'm starting to rant on, so I'll sign off for now.

The Start of a Great Expierience

Well, I suppose I should welcome you to my blog.
There's two reasons that I made this blog, well more like three:  One, I believe everyone should have a blog once in their lifetime.  Whether it may last a day or years on end.  Two, my friend made a blog and I thought it'd be a cool idea.  Three, I want to share my writing with the world and I thought this would be the best place to do so.
Now, in a sense I may be talking to no one.  That's always a struggle with blogs.  There might be that blog that never enjoys page views.  Eventually if you stick it out, you may reach that goal of a hundred page views a day, but that's not what matters to me.  Seeing that one measly page view across the stats, just that one click someone made, will make me happy.  It doesn't matter how many page views you get, in my opinion, it's the fact that someone visited your blog.  Sure, it might have only been a second, but now, at least someone knows you exist.  That's what blogging is truly all about.
Lately, I haven't been writing like I used to.  I blame it on school, but deep down, I know it's not true.  I had plenty of time to write in November for NaNoWriMo (see nanowrimo.org for more information).  It's my desire to write, the motivation I need to continue with my writing.  I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe this blog will help me through this.  I love to write, I've been told what I write is interesting; I have time, but not the motivation.  With this said, I'm finally admitting this to myself.
Earlier today, I heard of 60K/60 Days, a challenge in which you write 60,000 words in sixty days.  When you think about it, it's not all that bad.  With NaNoWriMo you wrote 50,000 words in 30 days, a task that's much harder to come by.  I'm hoping this will give me the motivation to write.  I'm hoping that I'll be able to finish my current novel that I started in November and I'd like to work on my Harry Potter FanFiction.  I'm joining in on the challenge with my friend.  If you're reading this, you're not alone.
Now, before I bore you to death, I should probably bring this to a close.  If you've made it this far through my post, thank you.  You're more than welcome to follow me.  I hope to see you in the writing community soon and Happy New Year!
